Scarlett Johansson recently sat down with Luke Bainbridge of the Observer Music Monthly *Guardian Unlimited http: //blogs.guardian.co.uk/observermusic/2008/03/the_cover_girl.html to chat.
The talented actress was in London letting everyone know about her new album Anywhere I Lay My Head.
The music is very much a collaboration between Ms. Johansson and David Sitek. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Andrew_Sitek
Mr. Sitek is with a band based in Brooklyn, TV on the Radio. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TV_on_the_Radio
The recordings were done in Louisiana, with ten of the eleven songs having been written by Tom Waits.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Waits http://www.tomwaits.com/ himself, or with someone else. Ms Johansson and Mr. Sitek wrote one song.
So, how accomplished is the lovely Miss Scarlett when she's singing?
I don't know about the new album/collaboration, but, here's a cute clip on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lh-YPLKJo4 of scarlett singing, from an album to benenfit charity http://music.barnesandnoble.com/Unexpected-Dreams-Songs-from-the-Stars/e/081227332822
There's also the creatively put together group of clips from Lost In Translation, with Scarlett doing a the same lovely version of Summertime.
